What is it?
XLS is the older, pre-2007 Excel spreadsheet format, still found in older exported reports and legacy files.
How do I open it?
Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc, which all still support it.
Is it safe?
Same macro caution as XLSX applies to legacy XLS files.
Can I delete it?
Safe to delete once no longer needed — consider converting to XLSX or CSV for long-term use.
