Filenary

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most about how Filenary works.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every conversion on Filenary runs client-side, in your browser, using JavaScript. Your file is never sent to a server or stored anywhere.

Is Filenary free to use?

Yes, every tool is completely free and requires no sign-up or account.

Which browsers are supported?

Filenary works on up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Some advanced formats (e.g. AVIF encoding) depend on your browser's capabilities.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no limit enforced by Filenary itself. The practical limit is your device's available memory, since processing happens locally.

Does Filenary work offline?

Once a tool's page has loaded, most conversions continue to work without an internet connection, since no file data is sent anywhere.

Why don't I need to create an account?

Because nothing is uploaded or stored on our end, there's no file history or account data to manage — you don't need one.

Which file formats does Filenary support?

Images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, HEIC, SVG, GIF, BMP), PDF, audio and video, DOCX/TXT/Markdown, and structured data formats like CSV and JSON. See the full tool list on the Tools page.
